One set of DB’s? Full Body Workout (and a recipe)
What can you do with light dumb bells when you want to train your whole body? Throw a complex at it. This is a fast workout, better than any cardio machine that you’ll ever do, it’s designed to burn fat and increase muscle tone. It’s a full body workout that requires only a small space and small amount of time. Sounds like a winner eh?
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Start in a standing position, DB’s by your side.
- Drop to a high plank.
- Renegade row, one per side.
- Push up.
- Spider crawl, one per side.
- Squat thrust.
- RDL.
- Bicep curl to front squat position.
- Front squat.
- Push press, return DB’s to the sides.
Repeat five times.
Rest 30 seconds to one minute and repeat. One round should take you between 90 seconds and 2 minutes, go slow and steady and focus on form.

And now…
What’s for dinner?
My kids have told me that I’m trying to kill them with fish and vegetables, but my cooking is getting better (they’re even requesting fish now). One reason is that I’ve tapped into some great recipes. Here’s one from my friends at Paleohacks. I love the recipes HERE because they’re healthy and DOABLE even for a horrible cook like me.
Look, anyone can cook with crappy ingredients and make food that’s tasty, the trick is making food that tastes good AND is good for you. The recipes HERE have really helped me.
If you’re interested in discovering the benefits of the paleo lifestyle but you’re intimidated that all you’ll eat is boring meals of meat and veggies, you’re mistaken. Take a look at what you can ‘indulge’ in HERE and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Okay, here’s that recipe, enjoy:
Baked Salmon & Pistachio Salsa
Fish4 salmon fillets
2 tablespoons olive oil 1 bunch dill 1 fresh orange, juiced ½ teaspoon salt
Pumpkin 4 cups pumpkin, chopped 3 tablespoons olive oil |
Salsa1 bunch flat leaf parsley
finely chopped 1 tablespoon small capers ½ cup pistachio kernels ¼ cup shallots, finely sliced 1 tablespoon olive oil
|
Instructions
Preheat a fan-forced oven to 180 Celsius/350 Fahrenheit.
Rinse the salmon under cold running water and pat dry with a paper towel. Rub sea salt onto the fish. Wrap fish in aluminium foil with sprigs of dill, orange juice and olive oil. Fold edges of aluminium foil to form a tight package.
Bake fish in oven for 20-30 minutes or until cooked through.
In an ovenproof dish, combine pumpkin and olive oil and bake in the oven at the same time as the fish. Cook for 20-30 minutes or until soft and golden.
To make the salsa, combine parsley, capers, pistachios, shallots and olive oil and mix well.
Serve fish with the salsa.

I also love to read what you are cooking or experimenting with in the kitchen. Only problem , I have seafood allergy but I still like to read them. Looks like Sev has really settled in. Maybe he thought you were talking to him when it was all of us in video land. Thanks Shawna and have a great day.
I love that Sev decided to photo bomb your workout video. It makes the circuit that much more fun. What a great dog you have!
Thank you for this circuit. Gosh, thank you for everything you give us. In my book, you’re the best Shawna! You inspire me!
